Vanessa-Mae wants to ski in 2014 Olympics
Violinist intends to represent Thailand at winter games in Russia
From The Bangkok Post
Violinist Vanessa-Mae has asked Thailand if she can represent the country in ski events at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
A source at the Olympic Committee of Thailand said Mae had contacted the committee and proposed that she represent Thailand in the skiing competition at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
The OCT has agreed initially to her request. However, she also needs to be endorsed by the International Ski Federation to make sure she is qualified to participate in the Winter Olympics, the source said.
Mae, a British citizen, is half Thai. Her father, Vorapong Vanakorn, is Thai, her mother, Pamela Tan-Nicholson, is Chinese, and now a British citizen.
