The Finzi Quartet's cellist praises the best teacher she ever had

During my five years with Hannah Roberts I always felt in safe hands.

My musical hero is Hannah Roberts, my teacher at the Royal Northern College of Music, in Manchester, UK, from 2002 to 2007. During my time studying with her, I was never short of a goal or uncertain about what I was meant to be working on. She has a wonderful way of being extremely supportive but at the same time always pushing you past your perceived limits. She tailors her approach to suit each individual student and can work on technical issues with extreme focus, but without negativity.

She encourages her students to embrace all aspects of college life and during my five years with her I always felt in safe hands. Her advice and inspirational musicianship has stayed with me and I will always be grateful that I have this to draw on.
