The Tesla Quartet won the gold medal in the senior string
division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in
South Bend, Indiana. The quartet, whose members study with the
Takács Quartet at the University of Colorado at Boulder, received
$3,000. The silver medal went to the piano trio Trio mod3tre from
the New England Conservatory. The Ariadne Quartet from the
Cleveland Institute of Music took bronze.
In the junior division, the $2,000 first prize was won by the
Quartet Stracciatella of the Academy of the Music Institute of
Chicago. Piano trio the Y Trio, from the Interlochen Arts Academy,
took second prize. Third prize went to the Quartet Ardella of the
Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago.
