Rubenstein was concertmaster of La Monnaie Opera Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Belgium
Jerrold Rubenstein, violinist and former concertmaster of La Monnaie Opera Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Belgium, has died.
The Juilliard School graduate and student of Arthur Grumiaux performed as a soloist in leading concert venues around the world, including Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, London's Wigmore Hall, and Bucharest's Philharmonic.
He made numerous recordings, including the entire Mozart violin concertos, and chamber works by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Grieg, performing with the Belgian Piano Trio - featuring pianist Dalia Ouziel and cellist Edmond Baert - of which he was a member for 19 years.
He taught at the Antwerp Conservatoire and at the Queen Elisabeth Music College for many years, and gave masterclasses in Europe, Brazil and the United States.
