New technology that digitises a violin in real time

The new Digitaize Strings Module converts a violin’s sound into Midi in real time and with low latency. This is possible because of Digitaize’s patented fingerboard sensor that tracks the note being played, which is then immediately sent wirelessly to the player’s laptop. The resulting Midi is then available in the player’s preferred software, such as Ableton or Sibelius. ‘We didn’t want to interrupt whatever environment the musician is used to working in,’ says Digitaize product manager Alessandro Baticci…
