US violinist Hilary Hahn has announced that she will be returning to the stage later this month, after a double pinched nerve injury forced her to withdraw from performance engagements from July 2024.

Hahn announced via social media that her first performance back will be with the New York Philharmonic, under the baton of veteran conductor Herbert Blomstedt. She will perform the Brahms Violin Concerto on 26 and 27 February, and 1 and 2 March.

Additionally, she will perform after the concerts in a new Kravis Nightcap programme, featuring New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck, NY Phil musicians, plus other artists to be announced soon.

’Coming back to perform with this orchestra feels like a homecoming - they’re family to me, and it’s especially meaningful to build upon our wonderful residency collaboration from last season.’

Hahn emphasised the importance of rest and maintaining a balanced schedule going forth:

’As I continue my journey of physical recovery, I’m taking a measured approach to my performance schedule, ensuring I have adequate rest between concerts. This careful balance will help me give my absolute best to each performance and to the music we all love so deeply.

’This means I have had to cancel several previously announced concerts. I’m grateful for the understanding from presenters and audiences where this is necessary, because I know this is what I have to do to keep making music for as long as possible—hopefully until I’m 97, like Maestro Blomstedt! (No pressure, right?)

‘Take care of yourselves, and see you in NY!’
