Tonewood from the collections of Rembert Wurlitzer Inc and the late René Morel will be up for sale this March. Online specialist Tarisio is to auction maple, spruce, ebony, willow and bridges collected by Morel during his long career as a restorer and maker, as well as pernambuco that was originally held at Wurlitzer's.
The pernambuco was acquired in the 1950s by Samuel Kolstein, who worked as a bow restorer at Wurlitzer's and founded his own New York violin and bow business.
The wood for sale can be viewed at Tarisio New York from 23 January to 18 March, with bidding set to close on 19 March.
