James Ehnes performs Tchaikovsky's Melody, op.42 no.3 on the Giuseppe Guarneri 'del Gesù' 'Lord Wilton' violin, 1742.
The instrument was one of several great Cremonese violins associated with Yehudi Menuhin, who acquired it in 1978 from Jacques Francais in New York. On his death in 1999 it was bought by contemporary collector David Fulton, for the then record price of $6,000,000.
