The ensemble joins the roster for worldwide management, having previously received joint management from Concert Artists Guild and Young Classical Artists Trust
The Balourdet Quartet has announced it has joined the roster of Colbert Artists Management, stating ’we are so thrilled to start this collaboration!’
The quartet will work with Katie Papini Backus, who has managed the group previously through Concert Artists Guild. The ensemble won the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Competition, which included joint management by Concert Artists Guild in the US, and Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in the UK and Europe.
The Balourdet Quartet comprises violinists Angela Bae and Justin DeFilippis, violist Benjamin Zannoni and cellist Russell Houston. 2024 saw the quartet receive both the Avery Fisher Career Grant and Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award, with the group recently making its debuts at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London.
It serves as graduate quartet in residence at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, having recently graduated from New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program. The Balourdet Quartet has won prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the International Premio Paolo Borciani Competition, Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Yellow Springs Competition.
Upcoming highlights of the 2024-25 season include performances at the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, the Kennedy Center, What Makes it Great at Merkin Hall, and a weeklong residency at Stanford University.
