Malin Broman will take over from conductor Sakari Oramo at the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra
Malin Broman, who is currently first concert master of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, has been appointed new artistic director of the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in Finland. The Swedish violinist takes over from Sakari Oramo - whose career also began on the violin - in September 2019, with an initial three-year contract.
In addition to her work with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Broman regularly takes on guest roles as concertmaster with ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. A founding member of the Kungsbacka Trio and the Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble, she is equally devoted to chamber music and is the artistic director of the Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra.
In a press release about her new appointment, Broman commented: ‘I’m looking forward to continuing to work long-term with this beautiful orchestra, as I have known them for a few years now. I’m anticipating this three-year period with curiosity.’
