The bows were made by French makers Tourte, Peccatte, and Sartory
Brompton’s Auctioneers have announced the sale of three cello bows by French makers for a remarkable £351,000.
The highest selling item was a bow by François Xavier Tourte for £206,000, followed by a bow by Dominique Peccatte for £102,000, and a bow by Eugène Sartory for £43,000.
The items were part of Brompton’s March Fine Sale, which took place between 14–24 March. Brompton’s have described the sales as ‘sensational results’.
