The agency will represent the violinist in all Nordic countries
Danish-Ukrainian violinist Anna Agafia has joined the roster of Nordic Artists Managament, which will represent her in all Nordic countries. In a social media post the violinist said: ’I’m so grateful and excited to begin this new chapter with an amazing management based in my home country. Thank you for having faith in me and welcoming me into your family! Looking forward to all that is to come.’
Agafia is a laureate of several major competitions. She won first prize at the 2019 Tibor Varga Competition, second prize at the 2022 Singapore International Violin Competition, and third prize at both the 2019 Carl Nielsen International Competition and the 2021 Stuttgart International Violin Competition.
The violinist has emerged as a rising talent as a soloist, playing with orchestras such as the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Danish Chamber Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
She received her soloist master’s degree at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in 2019, where she studied with Svetlana Makarova and Pavel Vernikov. In 2021 she graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music under the tutelage of Alexandre Zapolski and Tim Frederiksen. And in 2024 she received an artist diploma at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she was taught by Augustin Dumay.
As a chamber musician, Agafia has performed with Renaud Capuçon, Emmanuel Pahud, Trio con Brio Copenhagen, Gérard Caussé, Corina Belcea, the David Oistrakh quartet, Steven Isserlis, Gidon Kremer, and Christian Tetzlaff, among others.
Agafia released her debut album in March 2023, in which she played Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto no.2 and Carl Nielsen’s Violin Concerto with Sinfonia Varsovia and Aleksandar Markovic. The album was nominated for the ICMA 2023 and named Clef d’Or of the year by ResMusica.
She plays on the 1730-33 ‘The Sphinx’ Guarneri ‘del Gesú’, loaned to her by an anonymous donor.
