Shanghai-born violinist Ying Fu has joined the Philadelphia Orchestra as associate concertmaster. A first-prize winner at the 2011 Schmidbauer and 2012 Rodolfo Lipizer competitions, he has been a first violinist in the Cleveland Orchestra for the past two seasons.
Ying Fu studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music before moving to the US to study at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston with Sergiu Luca and Cho-Liang Lin.
In his new post at the Philadelphia Orchestra, he joins a line-up of concertmaster David Kim, first associate concertmaster Juliette Kang, and assistant concertmaster Marc Rovetti.
