The artist is expecting her first child with husband and conductor Rafael Payare
Cellist Alisa Weilerstein has announced on her Facebook page that she and her husband, the conductor Rafael Payare, are expecting their first child together.
Her message reads:
‘My husband †ª„Rafael Payare†¬ and I want to share some very exciting news: we’re expecting a baby next spring! We couldn’t be more thrilled about starting a family together. In the meantime, I'm keeping very active and healthy and am feeling wonderful. My schedule is as full as always, and I’m enjoying performing and recording as never before!’
The cellist is currently touring Europe with pianist Inon Barnatan, with whom she has recorded an album of Rachmaninov and Chopin for Decca. Forthcoming engagements include concerto appearances with the Cincinnati and San Diego Symphony Orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and London and Chicago Symphonies.
