I’ve been living in the state of Hawai‘i since 2017. For the first five years I was based in the city of Honolulu on the island of O‘ahu, but in 2022 I moved to the city of Hilo on Hawai‘i’s ‘Big Island’. The city is on the windward side of the island, where moisture from the Pacific rises and falls as it meets the slopes of two volcanic mountains, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, making this the wettest city in the US…
