Bach and the Book of Ecclesiastes shape a new double violin concerto

Israeli composer Avner Dorman’s new double violin concerto acts as a companion piece to Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D minor. The new four-movement work contrasts lament-style first and third movements with dance-like second and fourth movements. The title comes from the Book of Ecclesiastes and reflects the work’s ‘unusual contrasts’, says Dorman. ‘I thought it was an interesting question: what is the opposite to mourning?’…
