The Christmas calendar features instruments from the foundation’s extensive collection
Dextra Musica in Norway presents its 2023 Advent calendar. Each day features an instrument from its ‘Master to Master’ exhibition, held in Oslo in February 2023, as well as an audio clip of the instrument being played.
The instruments that have featured so far are:
1 December: Antonio Stradivari 1689 ’Duc di Litta, Arditi’ violin, played by Elise Båtnes
2 December: Francesco Gofriller c.1740 cello, played by Øyvind Gimse
3 December: Anders Christian Kleven 1898 Hardanger fiddle (pictured above), played by Helga Myhr
4 December: Girolamo Amati II 1690 double bass, played by Kenneth Ryland

This year’s calendar pays tribute to some of these priceless treasures, including Yehudi Menuhin’s celebrated ‘Lord Wilton’ Guarneri, the Carlo Bergonzi once played by Fritz Kreisler, and four instruments by Antonio Stradivari.
