Italian luthier Ezia Di Labio founded the Violino d’Autore project in 2004. She provides her hand crafted string instruments to artists from a range of disciplines, resulting in numerous decorated instruments. A graduate of the Liuteria Artistica Bolognese, Di Labio aims to reaffirm the value of the luthier tradition without modifying the shape and acoustics of the instruments in any way, yet provide a blank canvas upon which artists have the freedom to express their artistic vision in various forms. Materials used include acrylic, wax crayon, graphite and rice paper.
