The winner of multiple competitions joins the roster for worldwide general management

Harrison Parrott has announced the signing of Austrian violinist Leonhard Baumgartner to its roster for worldwide general management with immediate effect.

Baumgartner was born in Vienna in 2007 and made his debut performance with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. He has since appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, Berlin Baroque Soloists and Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.

He has won prizes and earned top honours at numerous international competitions, including first prize and special prize at the 2024 Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition, first prize at the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition and first prize, Grand Prix and Audience Award at the Osaka International Music Competition.

In August 2024, Baumgartner won the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, making his debut with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the baton of Eivind Aadland. In October 2024, Baumgartner played first violin in Deutsche Grammophon’s world premiere recording of Mozart’s newly discovered Serenade in C major Ganz kleine Nachtmusik K648 recorded in Salzburg.

Baumgartner has studied at institutions in Munich, Graz and Vienna, where he currently studies with Dora Schwarzberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Additionally, he is student of Ingolf Turban, with earlier and initial studies under Regina Brandstaetter. He is a scholar of the Music Academy Liechtenstein, performing frequently in concerts with Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Esperanza.

His studies are supported by the Nina Gscheider & Florian Schwarz Scholarship from the Stretton Society, through which he participates in a mentorship programme with Vilde Frang. Baumgartner plays on an Antonio Stradivari violin from 1683, ‘ex-Petherick’, generously on loan to him by a member of the Stretton Society.
