The violin was last seen on 28 September 2024 near the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
A c.1760 violin by Charles & Samuel Thompson has been reported missing since Saturday 28 September 2024.
The violin was taken from a park near Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London’s Barbican area. It belongs to a young student who had only owned the instrument for a few days.
The English violin is described as a full-arched Stainer model and comprises a two-piece back of plain maple, with the scroll and ribs made of similar wood. The front is made of irregular grained pine. There is evidence of previous cracks in the belly and back that have been repaired.
The violin was in a black rectangular case, which also contained a 3/4-sized bow.
