The Franco-Belgian cellist joins the roster for general management
Keynote Artist Management has announced the signing of Camille Thomas. The cellist holds an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon (DG) since 2017, with her latest album Aznavouriana released in 2024.
Voice of Hope, her second DG album, included the world premiere recording of Fazil Say’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra Never Give Up, the composer’s response to terrorist attacks on Paris and Istanbul. The work was written for Thomas, who gave its world premiere performance in Paris in April 2018. It is the first classical album recorded in partnership with UNICEF, reflecting her desire to help others through her music.
Thomas anticipates a busy 2024/25 season, which will include appearances with NDR Radiophilharmonie at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Tokyo Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, The National Symphony Orchestra Ireland, Janacek Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, Belgrade Philharmonic, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
She will also perform in recital at Paesaggi Musicali Toscani Festival, Tippet Rise Art Center and Palais des Beaux-Arts this autumn.
Thomas was born in 1988 in Paris. She began playing cello at the age of four and made such rapid progress that she was soon taking lessons with Marcel Bardon. She moved to Berlin in 2006 to study with Stephan Forck and Frans Helmerson at the University for Music ‘Hanns Eisler,’ and continued her training in the form of postgraduate lessons with Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt at the Franz Liszt University for Music in Weimar.
Thomas plays the 1730 ‘Feuermann’ Stradivari cello on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
