Alan Choo’s 2018 Jason Viseltear baroque violin was stolen from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights on 8 March 2024. The theft occurred between 1:30 and 3:00pm during a rehearsal lunch break.
The violin was in a blue Bam contoured violin case, which also contained a Louis Begin baroque bow. Choo’s backpack was also stolen along with the violin, which contained his AirPods. Using the ‘Find My’ tracking app revealed his items were in Taylor Heights, but live tracking has since stopped.
’This violin has been such a major part of my career and I would be sad to not play on it again,’ said Choo, the concertmaster of the Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra. ’Any help much appreciated!’
Choo is offering a $400 reward for the return of his violin, with no questions asked or charges pressed. Anyone with information should call 216-536-9852.
