Noémie Bialobroda will begin the role in January 2025
French violist Noémie Bialobroda has been appointed as viola professor at the the Lyon Conservatoire in Lyon, France. She will begin the role on 6 January 2025, taking over from interim professor Jean-Baptise Magnon, who will finish his tenure on 20 December.
In a social media post about the appointment, Bialobroda said: ‘I am extremely happy and honoured to announce my engagement as viola professor at the Lyon Conservatoire! It is with enthusiasm and humility that I take on this new responsibility. I look forward to joining the wonderful team of professors and to put all my energy behind forming a new generation of violists.’
Bialobroda also teaches viola at the Geneva Conservatoire and Lausanne Conservatoire, as well as chamber music at the Haute École de Musique de Genève (HEM), where she was appointed chamber music coordinator in 2021. She is also a teacher at the Geneva International String Academy.
Originally from Paris, Bialobroada studied with Jean Sulem at the Paris Conservatoire and at the HEM with Nobuko Imai and Miguel Da Silva. She has won prizes and scholarships including the 2010 Beethoven International Viola Competition, and the Fondation Hirschmann and the Fondation Meyer scholarships.
In 2010 and 2011, she participated in the Seiji Ozawa International Academy, Switzerland, and in 2013, the Verbier Festival Academy, where she participated in masterclasses with Yuri Bashmet and Antoine Tamestit.
She has been a member of the Aviv Quartet since 2014, with whom she tours internationally and has recorded extensively. She has played in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall and the Konzerthaus Berlin, and at the Verbier, Davos, Aix-en-Provence, Lubéron and les Folles Journées de Nantes festivals as part of the Aviv Quartet.
