The 19-year-old Armenian violinist receives $10,000 for her first prize win
Diana Adamyan has been awarded first prize at the 2020 Khachaturian International Competition, this year dedicated to the violin and held online from 6 to 15 June due to the coronavirus pandemic. She receives $10,000.
The 19-year-old Armenian violinist, who in 2018 won first prize in the Senior Division of the Menuhin Competition in Geneva, is a student of Ana Chumachenco at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
Although the competition is usually held in Yerevan, Armenia, this year’s edition saw the 6 finalists performing Aram Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto over the internet from their homes – accompanied by the Armenian State Symphony, conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.
