A violin worth $11,000 has been reported as stolen from the University of Evansville’s Suzuki programme in Evansville, Indiana, US. The report was made on Monday 24 June in the 1600 block of East Walnut Street, after it was discovered that a back window was broken and multiple items were missing, the violin among them.

The programme was founded in 1972 by Carol J. Dallinger and now teaches almost 100 students aged 4–17 from across the Tri-State area, with more families on a waiting list.

‘The University of Evansville has been and continues to be a safe place for our community,’ said Chief Communications Officer Noah Alatza. ‘We appreciate the Evansville Police Department’s assistance with this isolated incident. Additional information regarding the investigation can be provided by EPD.’
