US-based Spanish violinist Francisco Fullana has been appointed to two leadership roles in San Antonio, TX, for 2025. He has been named the new artistic director for the 210 June Festival at San Antonio’s Classical Music Institute, as well as artistic advisor of The Orchestra of San Antonio (TOSA), resident organisation of the Tobin Cener for the Performing Arts.

Fullana has advised and performed at the Classical Music Institute and the 210 Festival since its inception in 2016. His appointment aims to help the organisation grow its musical and educational impact in the predominantly Spanish speaking San Antonio community, by serving as a role model for residents of all ages in the area.

’As a Spanish speaking immigrant to this country, I cherish the opportunity to deepen my impact  and lead such meaningful artistic and educational initiatives that benefit the community of San Antonio,’ Fullana said.

Fullana will oversee the summer festival’s programming, faculty, and fellowship programme, as well as leading curated conductorless performances of TOSA and supporting its artistic planning team and its CEO Paul Montalvo.

Upcoming performances for Fullana include the organisation’s ’Savor the Music’ Annual Gala at the Tobin Center’s H-E-B Hall in November—with Fullana leading a ’Latin-flavoured, high-octane programme’—as well as a Korngold Violin Concerto performance with TOSA next spring, under the baton of Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award winner, François López-Ferrer.

Additionally, Fullana will take on a new role in the 2024-25 season as artist-in-residence of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia at Kimmel Center.

Fullana was the winner of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant and received the Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi Prize from the Festival Napa Valley in 2023. He is a performing artist at NYC’s Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and has participated in the Marlboro Music Festival, the Musicians from Marlboro tours, the Perlman Music Program, the Da Camera Society, and the LaJolla, Moab, Music@Menlo, Mainly Mozart, Music in the Vineyards, and Newport music festivals

Fullana performs on the 1735 ’Mary Portman, ex-Kreisler’ Guarneri del Gesù violin, kindly on loan from Clement and Karen Arrison through the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
