Miu Hirokawa, aged 8, performs the first movement of Mozart’s Violin Concerto no.5. The video has earned the young Japanese violinist joint first place at this year’s Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists, which is running partially online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The winners of the competition’s first two categories - for violinists aged 9 and under and for violinists aged 13 and under - have been selected on the basis of YouTube recordings. Miu shares her first prize win with 9-year-old Japanese violinist Chitoyo Shinozaki.
