Rachel Barton Pine performs works by three African-American composers whose languages incorporate influences from jazz, in this episode of Familiy Fridays, filmed during the pandemic in 2020.
As mentioned in The Strad Podcast Episode #32, she performs Prelude and Allegro from Four Portraits for Solo Violin by Billy Childs - the premiere of his second Violin Concerto was given by Pine and the Boulder Philharmonic on Saturday 12 February.
Pine also performs two movements from Blues Dialogues by Dolores White as well as Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s toe-tapping Louisiana Blues Strut.
