In this radio programme, cellist and presenter Verity Sharp hears the stories of four very different instrument makers: violin maker Andreas Hudelmayer in London; Victoria Hurley, in Orpington, who builds guitars; Christopher Bayley from Redhill, who combines engineering and acoustics to create the chamber instrument of Ireland, the uillean pipes; and Adam Doughty, from Wales, who makes West African koras.
Plus: Raphael Wallfisch explains why he loves his cello and duets with the Belgian violinist, Jens Lynen, who has come to try out a new fiddle, in Hudelmayer’s workshop.
