In January, the American violinist Rachel Barton Pine launched 24 in 24: Concertos from the Inside with RBP, a series in which she is performing 24 different violin concertos live and unaccompanied in 24 weeks. As part of the performance, she also delivers a pre-concert talk, and confides what she still finds challenging about the work, sharing her brief ‘backstage warm-up’ and practising the passages she would normally review in the privacy of her dressing room prior to stepping on stage.
Although the full live performances are ticketed, Barton Pine always releases an excerpt for free after the event. This one focuses on her performance of the A Major Violin Concerto by Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, broadcast on 28 February 2021.
