A violin donated to the Belgian nonprofit organisation Music Fund has an intriguing story behind it. The donor’s father was violinist Lucien Bossy, who served in the Belgian army during World War II and spent five years in a prisoner-of-war camp. He played the violin every evening for his fellow prisoners to keep up their morale.
The violin has now been restored by luthier Shehada Shalalda and, like all instruments donated to Music Fund, will be donated to one of many music projects it supports around the world.
