Amid honking ducks, the trickle of pond water and emergency sirens, cellist David Cohen takes part in a Q&A session with Han Bin Yoon, the president and artistic director of the Belgium Cello Society. Cohen, who was appointed principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra last year, shares his most memorable concert moments, his personal highlights of being a cellist, how he became acquainted with his Montagnana cello… as well as if he prefers beer or wine!
Cohen is a returning artist at the upcoming Brussels Cello Festival, taking place from 14 to 16 October 2022. This year’s edition will honour the 200th anniversary of Belgian composer César Franck and the 100th anniversary of Belgian cellist/composer Eric Feldbusch. Recitals will feature first prize winner of the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Competition Hayoung Choi, as well as top laureates from the 2022 Buchet International Cello Competition. Festival artists will also give masterclasses, free to the public.
