In this video, Swedish violin maker Peter Westerlund shares what he calls his ‘unique method’ of working out the perfect arching shapes for his instruments - a method that does away with the normal use of templates and which relies more on the luthier’s own ears. Westerlund has previously given a short summary of his method in the July 2018 issue of The Strad, and as a presentation at the Basque School of Violin Making (BELE).
The video is part of a series in which Westerlund presents his methods of instrument making. The series began a week ago and already numbers 30 videos.
