Watch South African cellist Abel Selaocoe’s video of his work Takamba, which was in his latest album, Hymns of Bantu. About the work, the cellist says: ’This is a West African rhythm that I decided to celebrate; sitting in the chair of another African country. It’s also about finding your home.’

The video was filmed in London and features Selaocoe on cello, vocals and percussion. He is joined by the Manchester Collective with reduced strings, Ruth Gibson on viola, Alan Keary on electric bass, and Sidiki Dembele, Dudù Kouate and Fred Thomas on percussion.

The video was directed by Lydia Harrison, with production manager Sorcha Macdonald and director of photography Liam White, alongside many others.
