The Ragazze Quartet presents a video performance of the ‘Juba’ from Florence Price’s String Quartet no.2.
The work features on the quartet’s latest album release, But Not My Soul, featuring pieces by Price, Dvořák and Rhiannon Giddens. The album was released on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2024.
’Florence Price was the first female African-American composer whose work was performed by a renowned orchestra,’ says the Ragazze Quartet. ’Subsequently, she was “forgotten” for a long time. Unjustified, we believe!’
The Ragazze Quartet comprises violinists Rosa Arnold and Jeanita Vriens-van Tongeren, violist Annemijn Bergkotte and cellist Rebecca Wise. But Not My Soul is out now.
