Per Buhre and his ensemble Odd Size present a music video of a track taken from their upcoming album, Beyond Sad Fountains. The album consists of works composed and explored around the lyrics of John Dowland.
I saw my lady weep is a composition by violinist/vocalist Buhre around Dowland’s lyrics. ’It starts off quite classical with baroque violin and lute and then transforms,’ describes Buhre. Odd Size comprises a mix of baroque musicians with musicians from the jazz/improvisation scene. ’Some people call it neo-baroque,’ says Buhre.
Buhre has worked with Barokksolistene and Göteborg Baroque, saying, ’I have been very interested in improvisation so my dream was to create something where my voice, violin and viola could do the same thing as in playing Bach, but be more free to improvise and not be restricted of the idea how something ”is supposed” to be played.’
Beyond Sad Fountains will be released on 21 October.
