The artist will shortly release a new Mozart and Vieuxtemps album on DG
Hilary Hahn has announced on her Facebook page that she is expecting her first baby. The violinist expects to complete her 2014-15 concert season and is continuing to rehearse for forthcoming recitals and concerto performances, alongside promoting her new album of Mozart and Vieuxtemps, due to be released by Deutsche Grammophon on 30 March.
‘I am usually very private about my personal life, because it is important to me to have a quiet space in which to develop my thoughts and reflect on all that happens,’ writes Hahn. ‘But this is such a different kind of news that I wanted to share it directly. My husband and I are thrilled and feel fortunate to experience this major life event.
'For the time being, I’m resting, prepping upcoming recitals and concerti and the release of the new Mozart-Vieuxtemps recording (another point on the continuum of good news), taking walks, and staying healthy.’
In July last year Hahn announced that she was withdrawing from all performances for six weeks due to an inflamed muscle. However, that absence was extended to a four-month period and the violinist eventually returned to the stage in November 2014. She was awarded a 2015 Grammy in the Best Chamber Music category for her ‘In 27 Pieces’ album of encores, recorded with pianist Cory Smythe, in February this year.
