The violinist replaces Volker Worlitzsch with the Hanover orchestra
Friederike Starkloff has been named the new concertmaster of the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover, Germany. The 24-year-old violinist replaces Volker Worlitzsch, who has retired after serving as the orchestra’s concertmaster since 1970.
Currently studying with Professor Antje Weithaas at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, Starkloff has won multiple prizes, including the Jacques Thibaud Grand Prize at the 2014 Long-Thibaud-Crespin competition in Paris.
She plays a violin made by J.B. Guadagnini which is on loan to her from the Baden-Württemberg State Collection.
