150 international violists will travel to Porto to perform on and discuss the instrument
The 42nd International Viola Congress – promoting the viola, its history, culture and repertoire – is due to take place in Porto from 26 to 30 November 2014 in the convent of SÁo Bento da Vitória and the Casa da Música.
Five days of activity featuring 150 violists from around the world will include 14 viola recitals, ten masterclasses and five orchestral concerts, as well as a variety of conferences given by members of the international music and economic community.
Among the topics covered during the congress will be ‘Performing for the Future of Music’ – inspiring future generations of viola players.
