The Cleveland Orchestra has promoted first violinist Alexandra
Preucil (pictured) to the position of assistant concertmaster.
Preucil, who has been a member of the orchestra since 2008, is the
granddaughter of János Starker, who died last month. Her father is
William Preucil, the concertmaster of the Cleveland
Orchestra.
The orchestra has three other violinists in concertmaster
positions: assistant concertmaster Yoko Moore, first associate
concertmaster Peter Otto and associate concertmaster Jun-Min Amy
Lee.
When she was studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music,
Alexandra Preucil was assistant concertmaster of the Akron Symphony
Orchestra and the Canton Symphony Orchestra. She spent two years in
the Cleveland Institute of Music's Young Artist Programme, during
which time she was concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth
Orchestra.
