Venezuelan violinist Gabriela Lara, 24, has won the first prize of $50,000 in the senior division of the Sphinx Competition in Detroit, MI, US. The second prize of $20,000 was awarded to Venezuelan–American violist Paul Aguilar, 28, and the third prize of $10,000 to US violinist Brendon Elliott, 30. For the junior division, the $10,000 first prize was won by US violinist Jacqueline Rodenbeck, 17, the $5,000 second prize by US cellist Sonya Moomaw, 14, and the $3,000 third prize by US violinist Kai Isoke Ali-Landing, 16…
