The new Artist Diploma provides an intense year of study for a pre-formed quartet
London’s Royal College of Music is launching a new postgraduate programme for an advanced string quartet. The Artist Diploma in Chamber Music will launch in September 2014, providing the opportunity for one established quartet to benefit from a year of intense study, culminating in a juried public recital. The programme has been sponsored by an anonymous donor, meaning that the string quartet will receive a full scholarship, covering all fees.
The course aims to develop ensemble playing, improvisation skills and repertoire knowledge, and includes coaching from RCM chamber music professors and visiting artists. There will be performance opportunities both within the College and at external venues, and professional career advice.
Applications for pre-formed and regularly performing quartets close on 1 May, 2014. For full details visit the RCM website.
