Kevin Bate has already served as the ensemble’s Assistant Principal and Acting Principal
The Nashville Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of Kevin Bate as its new Principal Cellist.
Bate, who has served as the ensemble’s Assistant Principal cellist since 2015, and recently as Acting Principal, studied at DePauw University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He previously held principal positions with the Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Missouri Symphony and the Orchestra Kentucky, as well as the position of artist-in-residence at the University of Evansville, as a member of the Eykamp String Quartet.
‘Kevin’s high level of musicianship makes him the perfect fit for this position,’ said the Nashville’s music director Giancarlo Guerrero. ‘As we look ahead to our many commissioning and recording projects, as well as our deepening impact in the community, I look forward to collaborating with Kevin on helping to guide our orchestra’s continued growth and evolution.’
