Ned Kellenberger will commence the role of assistant professor of violin at Karabakh University from autumn 2026
American violinist Ned Kellenberger has announced that he has been appointed assistant professor of violin at Karabakh University in Azerbaijan, beginning in autumn 2026.
Kellenberger was previously a member of the Grammy-nominated St. Petersburg Quartet. As an educator, he served as director of orchestral studies and adjunct professor of violin and viola at Avila University and as head of violin and viola curriculum and adjunct professor of violin and viola at Illinois College.
He has also taught at the University of Illinois Springfield and served as school principal at Wolfgang Violin Studio in Singapore. Recent invited masterclasses have taken him to the University of Cape Town and St. John’s College in South Africa, the Roberts School of Music in Sydney, the National Conservatory of Music of Peru, the University of Cuenca in Ecuador, and UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur.
His doctoral research examined the genesis and revision of the solo part in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. His scholarship has appeared in The Beethoven Journal and in Beethoven the European: Transcultural Contexts of Performance, Interpretation and Reception. He revised the entry on violinist Franz Clement for Grove Music Online and has presented research at conferences such as the New Beethoven Research Conference and the international Beethoven the European conference in Lucca, Italy. Since 2018, he has served as a music critic for American Record Guide.
Kellenberger earned his doctor of musical arts and master of music degrees in violin performance and literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his bachelor of music in violin performance from Wichita State University.
