Competition based in Harbin, China, reaches final stage of its live rounds, with ten musicians from eight countries

The Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition (SISC), taking place from 18 to 30 July in Harbin, China, has announced the finalists in its violin and cello categories.

The violin finalists are:

  • Lorenz Chen, Germany
  • Felicitas Schiffner, Germany
  • Eimi Wakui, Japan
  • Wendi Wang, China
  • Vasyl Zatsikha, Ukraine

And the cello finalists:

  • Zlatomir Fung, US
  • Rustem Khamidullin, Russia
  • Anastasia Kobekina, Russia
  • Dora Kokas, Hungary
  • Mon-Puo Lee, Spain

The first prize in the violin and cello divisions is $30,000, with a further $20,000 going to the winners in a chamber group category – open to string quartets, piano trios and piano quartets. The competition admitted 35 violinists, 35 cellists and five chamber groups to its live rounds.
