The US teacher gives her tips on training young beginners to listen to their sound and play in tune
Does teaching at a multilingual school ever present language problems?
Yes, sometimes. But I think that demonstrating is better than talking when you’re dealing with young children anyway – I teach kids as young as three, so I always risk using words or terminology that are too complicated. Often I find, even if I’ve thoroughly explained a concept such as intonation to a young student, that they come to their next lesson having learnt something incorrectly – they’ll consistently play a note out of tune, for example.
