Thieves broke into the Bass Violin Shop in Greensboro in the early hours of yesterday morning
The Bass Violin Shop in Greensboro, North Carolina has issued an alert on its Facebook page after two double basses were stolen from its premises in the early hours of Thursday 21 July.
The thieves broke into the store and took a three quarter size bass by German maker Louis Lowendall featuring gamba corners and amber varnish, and a three quarter size bass by Thomas Martin, made in 2010 in Banbridge, UK, featuring dark brown varnish and a John Patitucci label and signature inside.
A number of German and French double bass bows were also stolen by makers Arcos Brasil V. Schaeffer, Coda Bow Revelation, Erich Steiner, Dorfler, R. Geipel, Horst John, Coda Bow Infinity, Marco Raposo and David Gage Metropolitan.
The alert reads: 'If you see any basses or bows fitting this description, please contact us or if you can't get us, call Detective Robert Mayo with the Greensboro PD 336-307-5587. Case #2016-0721-037.'
