In this, the sixth of ten videos, violist Lawrence Power plays William Marsery’s ‘The Poor Room’ at his house in London. The video was filmed by Jessie Rodger during the Christmas break, with sound by Brett Cox.
Power says: ‘It’s interesting to reflect on the spaces and rooms that we have all existed in over the last months. The melancholic silence of our beloved concert halls, theatres and cinemas continues while at the same time our houses and flats have been saturated with life. The daytime invasion of these spaces that would otherwise lie peaceful and empty most of the day is an intriguing departure point for Lockdown Commission #6.’
