Augustin Hadelich (pictured) is to make his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut at short notice with the Los Angeles Philharmonic this week. He replaces Christian Tetzlaff, who has pulled out due to illness. The concerts, which take place from January 10 to 12, will feature Hadelich in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Edo de Waart – who also replaces an indisposed Christoph Eschenbach. Tetzlaff was to perform Schoenberg’s neo-classical Violin Concerto in the original programme.

Also taking to the stage is Nikolaj Znaider, who replaces conductor Pierre Boulez in concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra in February. Znaider was set initially to perform Bartók’s Violin Concerto under Boulez, but will now perform Mozart’s Third Violin Concerto and serve as conductor, too, for Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.
