He joins a number of new staff members in 2014 including violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, violist Vicci Wardman, and violist and conductor Henk Guittart
The Royal Northern College of Music has announced a number of top string appointments starting from September 2014 – following the appointments of violinists Yossi Zivoni and Julia Hanson, and cellist Miklós Perényi to the faculty in 2013.
From September this year violist and conductor Henk Guittart will become the RNCM’s International Tutor in Strings Performance and Pedagogy. He joins new Tutor in Violin Alexander Sitkovetsky and new Tutor in Viola Vicci Wardman. Also appointed to the college is French violinist Renaud Capuçon (pictured), who joins Israeli violinist Yair Kless as International Chair in Violin for a period of one year.
‘I was very happy to follow up requests from our violin students that we might involve Renaud Capuçon at the RNCM,’ said Head of the School of Strings and cellist Chris Hoyle, who was himself appointed to the role in June 2013. ‘Renaud is one of the world’s most inspiring violinists, and I believe that our aspiring students will learn a tremendous amount from him.’
Hoyle continued: ‘We continue to draw our string teachers from the best within Europe: we value their superlative artistry and their proven expertise within the teaching world. I am delighted that our students can work with these eminent musicians.’
